Andy's-Army

Our aim at Andy's-Army is to eradicate the stigma of having Mental Health especially but not exclusively in men. Mental Health is a primarily invisible illness which can be hidden behind a mask often of kindness, care and confidence. Many sufferers will suppress their own struggles by helping others.
Mental Health comes in many forms and for many reasons and it can surface at any age.
It will by no means come to the forefront immediately, it is often suppressed due to the circumstances that people find themselves in. Sadly bottling it up only to let it bubble away inside and explode at a later date is extremely unhealthy for all concerned, similarly though if it is not talked about and individuals are not only given the opportunity but also feeling comfortable enough in talking about their struggles it can easily escalate into something that causes heartache and destroys relationships and families.
We understand wholeheartedly that Mental Health is an incredibly difficult subject and many people don't want to talk about it.
Andy's Army (Andy's Legacy on facebook) is set-up and run by people who either experience Mental Health first hand or have and had people in their lives who experience it.
The quotes dotted around this page have come from a person who has also had their own battles but have sought positive affirmations to help manage those battles.
For some managing the battles is easier for others it is a constant fight with your mind, we want to encourage everyone facing these issues to talk, to share and to feel they are listened to. Nobody has all of the answers, however, a listening ear, a hug or a shoulder to cry on will always be available.
Our plan going forward firstly is to support people, we would also like to organise some events where people can just get together with others in similar situations and just feel safe.
